Yummy Chinese Restaurant Information

Tucked along 30913 Old U.S. 20 in Elkhart, Indiana, Yummy Chinese Restaurant feels like one of those places locals quietly rely on when they’re craving something comforting and familiar. It’s not flashy from the outside, but once you step in, the warm, no-frills atmosphere sets the tone for a straightforward dining experience focused on food and friendly service rather than presentation.

The menu is exactly what you’d hope for in a neighborhood Chinese spot-extensive without being overwhelming, covering everything from classic General Tso’s chicken and sweet and sour pork to lo mein, fried rice, and a solid range of vegetable dishes. What stands out is how consistent the flavors are. Dishes arrive hot, portions are generous, and the balance between savory, sweet, and umami feels well-practiced rather than rushed. The egg rolls, for example, have that crisp exterior and well-seasoned filling that’s hard to get right, while the house fried rice has a slightly smoky flavor that suggests a properly heated wok.

One thing that keeps coming up in reviews from regulars is reliability. Orders tend to come out quickly whether you’re dining in or picking up, and the staff is known for being polite and efficient, even during busy hours. It’s the kind of place where you might not get a long conversation with your server, but you will get exactly what you ordered without hassle, which honestly counts for a lot on a busy weeknight.

The dining area itself is simple-clean tables, modest décor, and a calm environment that works just as well for a quick lunch as it does for a casual dinner with family. It’s not trying to compete with high-end Chinese restaurants or trendy fusion spots, and that’s part of its charm. Instead, it leans into being dependable, approachable, and affordable.

From a local perspective, its location along Old U.S. 20 makes it convenient for residents and travelers alike, especially those passing through Elkhart who want something satisfying without venturing too far off the main road. While there isn’t a strong emphasis on modern presentation or upscale ambiance, the focus on consistent quality and portion value makes it easy to see why it’s become a go-to for many in the area.

There may not be extensive publicly available details about sourcing or culinary background, but the steady stream of positive feedback suggests a kitchen that knows its audience and delivers accordingly.

What People's Say About Place

This was my first time trying yummy's out. We took take out and we're very much impressed with the quality and packaging of our meal. I like the plastic containers the dinners come in and the amount they give you. By far they make the best triple delight dish, this is my go-to dish at any Chinese restaurant that I goto. Their crab ragoon and egg rolls are good, but seemed to be a little well done. Overall we will be back to try other items. Thank you

The customer service was great and the food is lovely as well. Ordered the Happy Family special and no complaints.

Shrimp fried rice and General Tso dinners were on point tonight. I've had chewy chicken here in the past but that didn't happen tonight. Everything tasted fresh and perfectly spiced. Also, they have a selection of Asian sweets available for purchase. I didn't try any but others may be interested.

MY NEW FAVORITE PLACE I've been looking for good Chinese food since 2019 and I finally found it. I'm from NYC and everywhere I've eaten around mi and Indiana has been just OK. This place is what I've been looking for. I will be back again and again. What we ordered: (everything was BOMB) Egg rolls (both shrimp and pork) Crab rangoon Wonton soup Peking dumplings Fried jumbo shrimp Shrimp fried rice Vegetable lo mein Mongolian beef Peanut chicken Beef and broccoli

I've been going here for about 8 years I think they are the absolute best place around in my opinion always give huge portions and it actually tastes amazing nothing like panda Express or those places in the mall whenever I would eat there and taste there food I would miss this place so much I hope there around forever

Don't let the outside fool you. Places like this are food GOLD mines. One of the very FEW places around here, that cook the rice right. It's hard to find Chinese restaurants that serve rice that isn't dry. Plenty of flavor, great value, plenty of food in each serving.

Best crab ragoons I've ever had and it feels like a great place to be

I got the general gso lunch special and it was delicious. Best general gso I've had in a while.
